This review is from: DC Unlimited God of War Series 1: Kratos Action Figures (Toy) If you are buying this figure to play with it- dont. The arms dont really move. But as a display piece it is very nice. good detail, though the scar on his stomach looks like a grey splotch and his bands on his face and body are maroon instead of red. All in all, a niece display piece for the price and any GOW fans who want to display Kratos for cheap should buy this. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By 21st Century Schizoid Man "George B." (Tennessee, U.S.A.) - See all my reviews = Durability: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: DC Unlimited God of War Series 1: Kratos Action Figures (Toy) Having recently gotten back into action figure collecting I automatically wanted a figure from one of my favorite video game series of all time, God of War. Unfortunately most of the Kratos figures I saw were very expensive, but when I saw the DC Unlimited Kratos online I knew I had to have one and my hopes were high. I mean it's Kratos, one of the toughest, muscular anti-heroes in the history of video games, who carries an arsenal of weapons and defied the Gods of Olympus. To me that has sweet action figure written all over it, so what could go wrong? A lot. First off, I don't know if I'm spoiled with the amazing levels of detail and articulation that the Four Horsemen have managed to work into the Masters of the Universe Classics line, or the nostalgia and pose-ability that comes with Bandai's Thundercats Classic, but this figure has left me wanting more of everything. He comes packed with his twin Blades of Chaos, but no chains so the classic look from the games is gone. His articulation is practically non-existent with the only movable point above his waist being the wrists. At the waist and below he has several points of movement, but since he is basically pre-posed they don't really do you any good. The sculpt is decent but very flat, with the bare minimum of details a figure like this needs to appeal to adult collectors, and it just looks off to me. Even the color of his (ash covered) skin should be a more video game accurate gray rather than the dull off-white used here and the red tattoo is more of a brown, heck his massive abdominal scar doesn't even look right. All in all this figure was a big disappointment, and I really wish that a character this cool could have gotten a decent figure. I have heard that NECA is releasing a 9 inch version later this year, so my advice is to wait for that one, I wish I had. Bottom line on this one is pass. |
