This review is from: Mass Effect 2 (Covers All Platforms and All DLC): Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides) (Paperback) Im of the type that still uses guides for most games that have them available as they are valuable tools for getting the most out of a game. That being said, I have seen guides take measures to ensure that they are packed with easy to access information for just quick run throughs, thorough playthroughs, and attempts to minimize the storyline spoilers while still providing enough detail with the story to fill one in on what happened in case they did not grasp the plot.This game guide aided me in my 60 hours with the game and was utterly helpful on many fronts. Following the guide I was able to get through about 78% of the trophies/achievements in just one playthrough (and potentially more if I had been skilled enough). The guide integrated most of the trophies and achievements into the walkthrough of the game by having callouts for when and how one could be achieved, or just offering suggestions on how to get them at key points (vital for one of the DLC missions, and for the ending as well!). The guides maps were beneficial, clear, and easy to understand. The planetary compendium was excellent too as the game has tons of planets that can all be mined for minerals and ensured that I only aim for the ones in which I can get the most minerals from. In terms of storyline spoilers, the guide speaks of the story, so a warning before buying is to make sure one does not exactly read too far ahead in a section (and as a suggestion follow along as you play it, pause too so one can see if a paragon or renegade interrupt occurs so they can anticipate what may happen). Otherwise, it was an excellent guide that I used throughout the entire playthrough of the game as I followed it from cover to cover! ME2 Game Guide, By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) I was surprised how heavy it was, I thought it would be really small. It has nice write-ups of all the weapons and skills. I did not need the walkthrough since I discovered almost every side-quest and trophy on my first play through. I thought I'd pick up the guide since I LOVE ME2. From what I knew of the game from my brother in law who has it for the XBOX 360, I thought it would be a good idea to get but the guide is set up in a bit of a confusing way and can be hard to find just what you need. It works to get the information to the reader but not without some work on your part. |
